Update personal information
Change your personal information
You can update your contact information, change your address, password, and more in your profile.
What you do
- Sign on to CIBC Online Banking or the CIBC Mobile Banking ® App.
Mobile Banking App
- Select the settings icon in “My Profile.”
- Choose the information you want to update. You can update your email address, email format, phone number and password.
Online Banking
- Select “Customer Services” from the menu.
- Choose the information you want to update. You can change your contact information, address, password, account nickname.
Changes will take effect right away.

However you choose to pay, the money is automatically debited from your CIBC bank account.
1. Pay with Visa* Debit
Pay recurring bills like phone and utilities, or for services. Just add your debit card details in the credit card billing section wherever Visa is accepted.
2. Pay with account details
If you want the form pre-filled with your account information:
Simply sign on to CIBC Online Banking® and follow these steps.
- Select the account you want to set up for your direct deposit or pre-authorized payment.
- Select Account Details. Your Deposit Account Details page opens.
- Select “Manage my account.” From the dropdown menu, select “Void cheque/direct deposit info.” Your prefilled Account Information form opens.
- Print or save the form. Add your signature and the date. Then send it to the company depositing the payment to your account or to the billing company.
Order cheques
You can order cheques for your account in just a few clicks 1
What you do
- Sign on to CIBC Online Banking ® and select “Customer Services” from the menu
Select “Order Cheques.”
- Make sure your personal information, transit number and account number are up-to-date
Then, select “Next.”
- If there’s a fee, we’ll debit the cost of the cheques from your account.
- Receive your cheques within 10 business days.

What you do
- Sign on to Online Banking and select “Customer Services” from the menu
Select “Stop Payments”.
- Read and accept the Terms and conditions
- Choose which payment to stop
Select “Stop a Payment on a Cheque” or “Stop a Pre-Authorized Debit”.
- Enter the details for the cheque or pre-authorized payment and select the account from which the payment is being made
- Choose an account from which you’d like to pay the service fee
Select “Next”.
- Verify the information, then select “Stop Payment”
Make TFSA contributions and withdrawals

You can add funds to or withdraw from your Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) anytime. 3
What you do
- Sign on to Online Banking and select "Customer Services" from the menu
Under “Account Services”, select “Contribute to a TFSA Account” or “Withdraw from a TFSA Account”.
- Enter your contribution details
Select which account you’d like to contribute to or withdraw from, the amount and the date of transfer. You can even set up automatic contributions to help keep your savings goals on track.
Check to be sure you don't exceed your annual contribution limit.

1 Fees vary depending on style and quantity. In addition to transaction fee (if applicable).
2 Excludes stop payments on pre-authorized debits/recurring payments set up using CIBC Advantage Debit Card details. To stop payment on these, you need to contact the merchant/biller/payee directly to instruct them to discontinue applying charges to your account(s) through your CIBC Advantage Debit Card. If you are unsuccessful in resolving the issue, CIBC may be able to work with Visa to request a refund for you.
3 You should keep records of your TFSA transactions to ensure that you do not exceed your TFSA contribution room. Canada Revenue Agency will also keep track of your contribution room and determine the balance of available contribution room at a particular time for each eligible individual, based on information provided by CIBC. If the total of your TFSA contributions to all your TFSAs, regardless of financial institution, exceeds your contribution limit, you may face a penalty tax of 1% per month on the highest excess amount for each month that the excess remains in the account(s). Deliberate over-contributions may also be subject to increased penalty taxes.
